GLD seems to be confirming the trend line break from yesterday. Below 50dma. 106.6 is next pivot.

Good Morning, Here is your Merrill Morning Minute: FAZ bias this morning, Markets are in a confirmed uptrend; do note again that tute participation ratings are stuck in “E” at the NYSE, “C” at the NSDQ and “D-“ at the S&P I believe it’s time for a breather Of interest, Puts vs. Call ratio, a contrarian indicator, nearing string bearish rating C by itself may be keeping everything afloat…unbelievable volume, again Sector charts, V recovery with some extending in more volume GLTA

Spy - nice trend line bottom from 2/25 through 3/4. We pierced yesterday but closed above. A confirmed break below would attract at least 114 if not the 50hma at 113.5.
I'm going to grit out a bit in Vxx. Vix broke north of trend line at the close yesteday.

Shorted AIG at $38 in pre-market, that POS is gonna tank - will take heat to $40 but looking back at the past 15 months, $40 is strong S/R and the stochastics are reaching their most overbought levels. If you look at a 5-day chart it opened at $25.15 last Thursday. Since then it's up over 50% - time for a little pullback I reckon: stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=AIG&p=D&yr=1&mn=3&dy=15&id=p95116771207Also, sold 500 shares of VXX earlier at $25.15, still holding other half GM all and good luck today! Nice trade on VXX mikey................I am holding 3K @ 23.83......GL Out of all but 500 @ 24.40...................GLTA

UK, VXX has another battle to fight at $24.4 - its 50hma. There has not been one hourly candle that's closed above this trendline in a month (since 2/12):

BIDU is one you might not want to play from the short side at least until this monster momo passes.
C is my baby I got 1,500 C March 4 calls at avg. .08. I want it to touch 4.08 and then I will start selling. No reason for this to stop moving before conference unless the whole market tanks.

The broader market is under a mild fit of pressure in the early going, but financials continue to trade with strength. The sector is up 0.2% at the moment; it is the only major sector in positive ground.
Strong gains in recent sessions have given the financial sector considerable momentum heading into this session. Including their modest move into the green this morning, the sector is up 1.7% week-to-date, whereas the broader market is up just 0.3% during that time. AIG (AIG 37.12, +0.88) has been a primary leader for the financial sector in recent sessions; its shares are up more than 30% week-to-date. Vxx - Hmm, good pt. I wonder how much you need to look at Vix for TA instead of Vxx. Sort of like Rifin or Xlf instead of Fas/Faz. 21 for Vx would be the first R (50dma). 21.6 is the 200hma. 60m chart looks like a possible b/o:

< Back to Headlines Goldman Recommends Option Strategies On M&A Targets 10:36 am ET 03/10/2010 - StreetInsider In a note to clients today, Goldman Sachs provided option strategies on stocks with the highest probability of M&A, which included Health Net (NYSE: HNT), Devon (NYSE: DVN), CommVault (Nasdaq: CVLT), and Amdocs (NYSE: DOX).
The firm said buying 3-month calls and selling 12-month strangles is one way to trade M&A views. Selling puts is an alternative for investors who are reluctant to limit their upside they said.
Other stocks the firm views as having a high probability of M&A include: Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC), Encore Acquisition Co. (NYSE: EAC), Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS), Red Hat Inc. (NYSE: RHT), CBL & Associates Properties Inc. (NYSE: CBL), Sapient Corp. (Nasdaq: SAPE), CyberSource Corporation (Nasdaq: CYBS), WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG), Leap Wireless International Inc. (Nasdaq: LEAP) and AK Steel Holding Corp. (NYSE: AKS).

Pressure has picked up a bit to take stocks another leg lower. Though the dip has been broad based so that all 10 sectors are now in the red, the overall scope of the slide remains relatively moderate.
While the broader market is down modestly, materials stocks are under considerable pressure. The sector is down 0.9% as steel stocks slide to a 1.1% loss and diversified metals and miners fall 1.4%. However, news of another earthquake in Chile could cause some price action in those stocks since Chile is a leading copper producer.
