Yeah, they should, cause they scare the $%@# out of me too, especially after loosing my !%@ over the last year and a half. I should just give it all to charity and live in a van down by the river :-)

I am voting bearish. Mostly because the market is technically overbought and to a lesser degree because of the sudden Fed move. stockcharts.com/charts/indices/McSumNYSE.htmlNote, the oscillator has gone straight from -75 to +56 in a space of 7 trading sessions without a breather. The 21.08 is an important mark to watch on the VIX. A break and hold above this level is clear indication the market is having its much needed technical pullback.

Im voting Bear for Friday. I saw something strange today. I have a watch list on my Iphone. Everything was RED except HPQ,AMZN and the S&P and the DOW. I have about 10 companies I watch.

King, I don't have a house. It is the money for a house. Conservative? What could be conservative in this market? And I am serious. It seems to me everything could go up or down by huge amounts. Stops are nice if they aren't blown through in a heart-beat, while the market is open. I know I have a lot to learn. Maybe a bit jaded. That is why I am here to learn...

Yes. I got caught with 1000 shares of SSO at 37.35. Could take a $200 loss. I will let it ride. It will come back "some day"...

I mean no disrespect to you what so ever. If I was saving for a home and I had just a little experience with the market I would look at my time horizon if its long put it in GE,PEP, KO something like that. Make sure you are getting a nice dividend or just bank it.

Maybe if I knew more about options, I could lessen the damage - but more likely, worsen the damage ;-) So much to learn...

Options are not the way to start out. 97% of all contracts expire unexercised

No disrespect Sloop. I respect you with the whole lot. I am all ears. The problem is my time horizon is short. I do have some experience (bad) with the market. I could paper trade with the best of them until the real money drops in. I have all the tools and have decent technical analysis skills. Just bad timing/luck. So I am a bit "gun-shy" after being, if you will... "trigger-happy" ;-) I hate to give it all away... ;-)

I read you loud and clear. I have enough trouble with the data right in front of me, nevermind guessing what will happen before opex...

Nope, that bull vote was cast before I did mine. I was busy moving the posts around in admin mode so I had not voted yet... but when I did that 1 bull vote was already there.

Hate to say this but Bear. Low volume should have told me. I am happy however that i am still holding FAZ...not good for my longs though. The market will settle down, they had to know this was coming. jmho

Well, I have been wrong 3 days in a row voting Bear... but I am still going to vote BEAR tomorrow. I don't see how with the PR's it could go up.... especially with the Fed increasing the Discount Rate.
Good luck everyone,
sowolf

Baby bull for tomorrow. I have no doubt the market will be tested - I think the Fed gave the market's resilience a vote of confidence today though, so I will do the same.
This board works way better than the Y board on my phone.. Nice!

Has to be Brosin. I am in the "start as a bear and go bullish" camp. I shouldve read the thread before posting! Let's not pretend I'm always bullish here lol.. Maybe its just that I'm one of the few not actively looking for a reason to think the trend is going to change. I'm not good enough to time that right.
