In this portfolio, for fun, I intend to short various stocks at the same time that I buy them. The goal would be to see, over time, how my entries are in various stocks and compare potential losses to gains based on that scenario.
The portfolio will tend to grow over time, and I will most likely update it weekly with new quotes. Buys (or shorts) will be aggregated daily or every few days.
I will use the top post (this one) to contain the entire portfolio, and modify it as time goes by. That way the portfolio holdings are always at the top of the post.
Trades being tracked:
MPG Short Avg: 2.75, Current Close: 2.45, Gain/Loss +10.9%
HTS Short Avg: 28.25, Current Close: 28.69, Gain/Loss -1.5%

Don't forget to add the divvy for HTS when it comes around.

Good point - that will come out of my loss I believe right? If you're short something you pay the long holder the divvy?

Good point - that will come out of my loss I believe right? If you're short something you pay the long holder the divvy? Shorty pays the divvy, so it increases the return of the long position, decreases the short position. After divvy, add the divvy to the share price, e.g. if the share price is $30, and the divvy is $1, the new basis becomes $31
