From www.optionmonster.com .......................GLTA S&P 500, Nasdaq 100 break resistanceThe indexes had a bumpy ride yesterday, but nothing like the extreme price swings seen last week. None of the moves were exceptional, but the Nasdaq 100 and the S&P 500 did take out their first resistance levels. The Russell 2000 came within a fraction of a point of doing so, but its levels did not change. For the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq 100, what was initial resistance becomes support and each adds a new resistance level. Nasdaq 100 (NDX)Support is at 2322.60, then at 2291.46, its 200-day moving average, and thereafter at 2287.66, its 50-day moving average. Resistance is at 2337.70, a pivot high from September, then at 2359.16, an April pivot high, and thereafter at 2378.10. S&P 500 (SPX)Support is at 1249.05, 1233.10, and 1220.25. Resistance is at 1264.52, its 200-day moving average, then at 1280.91, and 1287.08 thereafter. Russell 2000 (RUT)Support is at 730.67, 723.37, 716.25, and 711.21. Resistance is at 747.76, 756.76, and 769.46.

From www.optionmonster.com ............................GLTA Retail reports on economic calendarThere are only two economic reports scheduled for today, the regular weekly retail sales data releases. At 7:45 a.m. ET, the ICSC/Goldman Store Sales report will be released. There are two parts to the report, the week-over-week and year-over-year comparisons. Most traders focus on the year-over-year number because it is a better indicator of the longer-term trend. The last week-over-week change came in at 1.7 percent. The year-over-year data in the previous report showed a gain of 4 percent. Stronger-than-expected positive numbers would be seen as bullish, while negative numbers would be bearish. The Redbook Store Sales will be reported at 8:55 a.m. ET. As with the ICSC-Goldman report, there are two components to watch: one is the more volatile month-over-month change, and the other is the year-over-year comparison, which shows the broader trend best. The last month-over-month reading was 2.2 percent. The previous report's year-over-year data showed a gain of 5.4 percent. Negative numbers in either series would be bearish.

Wow, FAS is a barf bag today! Big banks all pretty weak today, JPM down almost 2% right now.. Is this all related to yesterday's stunt by SubStandard & Poors?

Weird. C, JPM, regionals all weak. Yet, BAC wants to go green, with GS considering following. Hmmm... who'll win?

Uh-oh...BAC just gave up the strength it's been holding most of the morning. With the rest of the fins weak, and the NASDAQ so very pukey, our chances of busting out upside are diminishing.

Regardless of which side you're playing right now, it's scary to think how the slightest provocation could send this thing hurtling in either direction.
Even scarier, realizing that a rookie trader/poster like myself is the only thing keeping this thread alive today.

You're doing a great job! And you've made some great plays lately. I sold yesterday so I'm just goofing off with the Opex contest and provoking Timber on a political thread. I think we have a bit of down ahead, but not sure. I don't like GS hanging around $100, it should blow the doors off that price for our Christmas rally to glisten (if not have real legs!)

A player on the thread! I haven't had any good plays lately. Been on vacation last week and a half, so been in cash. Thought I had a good start back in FAS yesterday, but the market reversal took me out on a trailing stop with puny profits. Jonesing to get back in, but not trusting right here. I think more tape bombs may be tossed out as we fight to cross 1260-1267 area. I'll reluctantly be patient awaiting more clarity. Good luck, Nat! (And you other 2 people reading this thread, lol!)

BAC can't make up its mind which team to play for today. Red again, and getting weaker. Fake out/ shake out?

Interesting action since Nov 23rd. If you had sold the open and bought the close on each day, you would have had quite the smile on your face. Very unusual and I will need to delve further into that particular sequence. I was noticing the daily flags on the 60 min.

Yes, and with Europe still hanging over our heads, I expect that's how most of this year's Christmas rally will be built, on multiple overnight gaps. Sure, we'll have to pay dearly after the first of the year when we have to go back and fill all of them. But hey- who cares?!? That's soooo far away from now, right?

Thought you were saying you had a bad experience with them. Hopefully I trade better than I read. Guess I'm not fully back from vacation yet. Glad to hear they are still taking care of at least some of their customers. Wish my last experience with them would've been more positive. GL!

BAC pays $315 million more to settle claims in addition to $12.7 Billion during the first half of the year and they're not done yet. It's been all over the news here today.
