From www.optionmonster.com .......................GLTA Levels unchanged leading into holidayTrading was interesting yesterday because there was no serious continuation of Wednesday's severe selloff. That is a lesson for all of us in how rapidly sentiment can be pushed around in the current environment and how disconnected stocks have become from fundamentals. In terms of levels, no big changes are evident for today. Moving average values have been updated, but no shifts in support or resistance took place. With bond markets closed in observance of Veteran's Day, many assume that the action in stocks will be minimal. However, traders need to be on alert because thin holiday volumes can cause outsized swings. For example, an erroneous note from Standard and Poor's ratings yesterday suggested that it might downgrade France's debt, briefly roiling markets. Once the error was corrected, markets resumed their upside bias. The incident shows that, if we do get any sort of news catalyst today--negative or positive--the reaction in thin trading conditions could well be extreme. Nasdaq 100 (NDX)Support is at 2297.98, its 200-day moving average, and then at 2274.48, its 50-day moving average. Below the 50-day, support is at 2258.96. First resistance is at 2349.93, its 10-day moving average, and then at 2412.52, the pivot high from Oct. 27. S&P 500 (SPX)Support is at 1218.28, then at 1199.59, its 50-day moving average, and at 1175.87. Resistance is at 1251.48, its 10-day moving average, then at 1272.33, its 200-day moving average. Russell 2000 (RUT)Support is at 712.42, then at 697.59, its 50-day moving average, and at 684.98. Resistance is now at 739.18, its 10-day moving average, then at 756.76 and 761.87.

From www.optionmonster.com .........................GLTA Focus on consumer sentiment reportThere is just one economic report scheduled today, the Reuters/University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index, which comes out at 9:55 a.m. ET. The consensus estimate calls for the index to rise to 61.5, up from the last reading of 60.9. The forecast range is from a bearish drop to 58 at the low to a bullish rise to 68 at the high. With U.S. bond markets and banks closed for the Veteran's Day holiday, in addition to a very light earnings calendar, it is likely that the report will be a big focus of the morning
