I had suggested yesterday in the "Sell at 10" thread that market was green yesterday with no POMO, so odds-on bet was it would be red today with POMO. I had no idea it would get THIS red. It would appear that every hedge fund and mutual fund in the land sold into Ben's buying today. I'm not sure what that tells us. But I didn't buy any thing today. I got stopped out of MOBI and since it's a spec play I had to honor it and lost .21/share. In retrospect, I saved about .70/share, so I'm not unhappy with this move. SOL on the other hand continues to fall as do all the solars and all of the Chinas, so I'm caught in the cycle with an average in the 7s. Hope everyone made some money today and will do so tomorrow. Members, please post your results along with your RDA of smileys!

My long term FAZ hold is green by almost 5% now - on strength tomorrow I have a feeling I will be trying to sell it and short into FAS w/ a couple entries in the following days. If I had been shorting FAS rather than going long FAZ on my 4 entries, I'd be up closer to 20% on the trade instead of 5%... lesson (officially) learned
my monopoly acct unlost pretty much the same amount i had lost over the past few days -the market and I are duking it out again, finishing the day with me in a 0.4% lead

Can anyone confirm the volume today? I would think it was thin and hence the large move today. Dollar was on fire and that never is good for the markets. Silver took it on the chin as well. I have not seen a 10% day move in FAS/FAZ in some time. Are we in store for more? GL!

The day started well with LVS and MPEL up strongly - but the broader carnage finally dragged them back to almost even. Fiddled around with my LVS position a bit. Sold a VXX call spread. Down almost 1-1/2% on the day.

I learned "AGAIN" not to be suckered in on bottom feeding stocks. I need to just not read about the latest and greatest little SH%^TY stock that someone found. The money I lost on that hurt more then the larger amount I lost on a good stock because I had no reason for being in it. I am so mad at myself for falling into such a beginners trap.

had a real bad day -- lost most of my last week's realized profit..
down 60K today alone, AH activity does not look promising. Most likely, I will have to roll these naked calls and baby sit them for few weeks.
holding 541 VXX 21 calls -- b/e 77 cents holding 100 VXX 20 calls - b/e 1.52
b/e pps for this setup 21.77

Am I wrong, or does rolling over an option mean closing out of the option and taking the corresponding position for the next ex-date. I didn't think you could just roll the option over like a future.

Am I wrong, or does rolling over an option mean closing out of the option and taking the corresponding position for the next ex-date. I didn't think you could just roll the option over like a future. technically you are right. In practice though , one could close the current position and roll over the future expiry (does not have to the next one) as part of a single transaction. Due to my current fee structure with TOS, I don't have to pay option commission/fees twice for rolling over an option or for any spread. I don't know if others have to pay the commission/fees twice.
