Booooo! Lol ok That wasn't sooo bad. At least we are bouncing on supports... Not that they're holding, but we are bouncing. I nibbled some SOL today and may add LDK though never played with it. This was to my core holding. Of you recall I bought and sold some of them last week too. Trying to decide my index play which I may start setting up tomorrow. Hope everyone made some money today and will do so tomorrow. Members, please post your results along with your RDA of new and improved smileys!

Well today I get the hangover from last night's LVS earnings report. I lost about $130,000 today. Some of that was other stocks declining. I had guessed that I'd lost $75,000 after hours last night - couldn't do a sensible calculation without know what volatility would be today. It was kind of a bummer that I couldn't trade options last night after hours. As for the protective puts I bought yesterday, they were mostly out of the money today (as opposed to last night). I sold about half of them to bring my cost down to zero. Then I scalped some of them a couple of times. I was reduced to scalping options because I got a margin call and even after dumping a bunch of shares it's hard to figure what I can do quickly without triggering another margin call. Part of my loss today was on the $42 calls that I decided to buy to offset the delta on my protective puts - that cost me another $22k. Oh well, I decided to punt and I'm paying the price. I was in a worse hole in Mid March.

That's exactly what I was afraid of D-Man, those MM's are wiley ones. They'll run everything through their Cray and determine that YOU specifically will not profit on the insurance you bought. How convenient that the stock bounced up first thing in the morning to wipe out those 42's. And I'll tell you right now, it wasn't by accident, and it wasn't by market forces, it was by pure manipulation. If there was no PM bullshit, that couldn't happen now could it?

Do we still have Crays? We had them at the nuclear weapons labs...got briefed on them at Livermore 25yrs ago. Cracked up when they referred to the possibility of them over-heating: its referred to as "The Puddle Factor"!!! lol!!!

Well it's either a Cray or a System 36. Virt had the System 36.
What happened to D-Man reminds me so much of the JAZZ setup last year. Drug doesn't get approved but stock is halted all day, stock tanks AH (on Friday, Opex) from 10.60, and they start playing games with option assignments.
The stop falls at about 7.32, which if it had gone even .05 lower, the $7 puts would have started to go up. There were a LOT of $7 puts - tons and tons and tons, bought as protection.
So the price stops falling at 7.32, none of the 7 puts pay off, they get all longs to capitulate and leave the burning building, and today, WITHOUT APPROVAL OF THAT SAME DRUG, JAZZ is trading at $32.

I've always been able to outperform faster computers by using well thought out tricks. One of the advantages of being a Cambridge computer guy I guess.

I only "lost" $12K w/ FNSR (but its up more than that in the AH what w/ JDSU's beating estimates).

Nice catch on JAZZ Homey, I didn't look at it today but I'm not surprised. I was musing on puts, 19s or 20s, not too long ago.

Portfolio was flat today. Bought 1/3 position in HAL at 47.5. Bought back a portion of WNR at 15..32 that I sold higher. Tomorrow should be interesting after NGD and DAC reported earnings tonight . WNR reports before the open.. Could be a disaster if no visibility going forward. Long: NGD AAU HAL DAC WNR
