Another deep down day... gave back everything gained yesterday after the opening gap down on the Dow. Looking at the Emini chart, there is absolutely no reason I see to go long anything at this point. The chart shows that the sell-off from 1-2:30 was met by a rebound that was not strong enough (unable to hold 1264), so we continued to sell off again. This isn't over by a longshot, from everything 'Technical.' Doesn't mean an invisible hand won't step in. No trades today. Hope everyone made some money today or at least avoided a complete wipeout. Members, please post your results along with your RDA of smileys!

Another sad day overall for the portfolio. Down another 3% of value. Did a couple of LVS scalps but got stuck on the third attempt. I am a trusting sort and I am reasonably confident that the famed "extension cord" gets hooked up in Japan. I wish I had got back from lunch soon enough to think of buying calls on EWJ before the close.

Agree on the technicals Cos. Seems we are bouncing up and down within a downward channel that started beginning of March. This is much more about the recent economic reports coming out of the US then it is about Japan. Old man is saying Japan situation is overdone and to focus on the US situation with QE2 coming to an end in June and with no clear strategy to go forward from there out of Bernanke.
Sold the FAZ I bought yesterday at almost the top and made a nice 6.5% gainer. Bought back the FAZ @ the close @ $45 for what I think will be another 3% minimum gainer by mid day tomorrow. If we gap up I'll play TYP with Timber. Also looking to add more DGP and SLW. Will hold off on SLW if we see a break of this level at $38.38 and then wait until $36.80 ish to see if that holds. Also got stopped out of 1/3 my HERO today but still made 15% on it.
Watch for retest of 1250 S&P again tomorrow
GL to everyone!

FFR was level at .14% and remains in 'stink bid watch' territory; after yesterday's bullish move from the 12 month low, it is at least a positive sign that it held the gain. Hopefully it does so or even moves more bullishly tomorrow, although I don't have my hopes very high on that given the still dangerous situations abroad. My FAZ unlost all the way back so that I am currently down -.3% on it (avg $9.02 = $45.10)... too bad I did not short FAS, but I'm still waiting for the 3 straight big down days in a row before I will sell these shares (I'm expecting it to be the next 2 days, but we'll see) monopoly world / big cap acct - intraday the account touched a new high since inception and pulled back slightly into the close; I am still right near my closing high if this wasn't it. This is why I was 'shorting in a bull market' - I have made an admittedly ridiculous amount in only a few sessions. Sad thing is that there is still (much) more to go even though few believe it. A few moves (even a couple LONGS!), acct +5.5% on the day shorts: (add) LNG @ $8.80 & $8.60 / avg $8.36 unrealized -1.1% on 6x short position (add) CHK @ $35.07 / avg $32.25 unrealized -7.4% on a 7x short position (add) NFLX @ $215.35 & $216.10 / avg $208.33 unrealized -2.6% on a 6x short position (add) PCLN @ $455.50 / avg $438.63 unrealized -4% on a 9x short position buys: (to cover 33%) LUV @ $12.25 / +1.4%; holding other 66% avg $12.41 unrealized +3.2% (to cover 60%) AAPL @ $332.60, $328.80, $333 for +1.5% on that 60%; holding other 40% avg $336.58 unrealized +2% (NEW) SLV @ $33.40 (NEW) GOLD @ $71.50 (NEW) GLD @ $136.22 I am now 6% long, 94% short

"This is much more about the recent economic reports coming out of the US then it is about Japan" You have got to be kidding, right!!?? No I'm not kidding MIST. Big Boys always make their moves well n advance. I forget who mentioned it earlier but we would be having this pullback even if you took out Japan, Libya, Saudi, ect. This is profit taking at it's best from the huge runnup as well as foreshadowing the end of QE2 in a few months. It just happens that this other stuff is going on at the same time. I know you said that the day I came back to FAStopia that that marked the bottom of the market, so how has that worked for ya? **sarcasm that went sour, sorry MIST** I'm just saying MIST, look at the charts. This started way before the Japan situation. We have only pulled back 6% so far from the high of 1343 S&P. They needed buyers in the market and there weren't any until the 1st of the year until the retail buyers stepped in. Rinse and repeat. Not to mention that the rise in energy and other commodities was going to show it's face sooner or later and it did today in the PPI # and the big boys were positioning themselves well in advance for this. Companies are not going to be able to keep up the margins they are getting now and earnings forecasts will have to be re-stated downwards. Watch. Come earnings seasons you will hear it in the conference calls. Not necessarily the service companies but for sure in the goods companies.
