From www.optionmonster.com .....................GLTA Jobs, consumer data, Bernanke on tapToday's economic calendar is the heaviest of the week. In addition to the regular economic reports, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke will testify before the Senate on financial reform at 10 a.m. ET.Jobless Claims data will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. The consensus calls for a slight rise to 410,000 from last week's 405,000. The range of forecasts is extremely wide for this particular release, from a very bullish drop to 315,000 to a more bearish rise to 430,000. The Bloomberg Consumer Comfort Index will come out at 9:45 a.m. ET. This was an index previously sponsored by ABC News. There are no estimates available for the report. The Philadelphia Fed Survey is scheduled for 10 a.m. ET. Consensus calls for a rise to 2, up from last month's -7.7 reading. Expectations range from a bearish drop to -6 to a bullish rise to 10. The survey is notoriously "noisy" with numbers that often fall well above or below consensus. The FHFA House Price Index also comes out at 10 a.m. ET. Last month the year-over-year change in the index was -5.7 percent. There are no estimates available for this release. A third 10 a.m. ET release will be Leading Indicators. Most economists expect an uptick of 0.2 percent, from a range between a bearish -0.1 percent to a bullish 1 percent.

From www.optionmonster.com ..........................GLTA NDX goes from first to worst in indexesThe indexes initially rallied hard yesterday morning, largely on the back of strong earnings results from Apple the night before, but several other technology stocks were down on the day. Notably weak were Riverbed, F5 Networks, and other cloud-computing companies. There were also weak spots in Yahoo and in Altera, which helped to drag the Nasdaq 100 lower. The NDX very nearly made it back to its year-to-date highs, but the dead weight from chip and other tech stocks killed the party. At end of day, each of the indexes finished with moderate losses. The Nasdaq 100, which had outperformed at the start of the day, was the underperformer by the close. This is a reversal that could make the bulls rethink their bullish convictions. In the after-market yesterday there was more bad news from tech stocks, with F5 Networks again figuring prominently on the downside. Other losses in chip stocks such as Qualcomm and Xilinx were relatively minor, but in aggregate they were enough to pull down the futures. Given that yesterday's index moves were relatively small despite the intraday volatility, levels did not change a great deal. I have adjusted some values where support was based on moving averages and have moved up the Russell 2000 support level to its 50-day average. Nasdaq 100 (NDX)First support is at 2368.67, its 10-day moving average. First resistance is at 2418.99, the year-to-date high. For the PowerShares QQQ (QQQ) first support is at $58.13, its 10-day moving average. First resistance is at $59.36, the year-to-date high. S&P 500 (SPX)First support is at 1311.72, its 50-day moving average. First resistance is at 1334.62. For the SPDR S&P 500 (SPY) first support is at $131.37, its 50-day moving average. First resistance is at $133.87. Russell 2000 (RUT)First support is at 818.94, its 50-day moving average. First resistance is at 841.61. For the iShares Trust Russell 2000 Index Fund (IWM) first support is at $81.82, its 50-day moving average. First resistance is at $84.23.
