Things are going to get very bad - and I could not care less what the Fed and POMO are supposed to do about it... deleveraging is a large process, and the amount of selling that it would involve will overwhelm any amount of money the Fed can throw at it in the short term.

You have lending market ripping apart at the seams here: Excess Reserves are shooting to progressively higher and higher levels than we have seen in history, and the Fed Funds Rate has been showing more bearishly than it has in a year, and hasn't shown ANY bullishness in 4 months. All the while, the market is sitting at 1300 SPX / 25% higher than it was 6 months ago. Yeah that makes sense.

I saw that too! I am just shocked; the big boys and girls from behind the door know somethin-you can bet on that. Oil shock? Strike on Iran? Dollar/Yen/Pound crisis? I dunno but I am not very invested at the moment

sure did! and very happy about it - I had thought that ship had sailed without me when it dropped under $5 this last time without me aboard...

it is like what happened to me with GM... although I covered the GM at $2.xx (won't be doing that with S)

For those who are watching for improvements and stabilization in Japan as the sign(s) to go back long, you have to take into consideration that the banks are preparing for something ELSE to hit the markets - what this thread was all about.

Banks are preparing for that next wave of resets Bros. Remember that chart that was floating around showing a crapload of them this spring? It was like the biggest wave yet.


Market will still respond to math if the Bernanke Boys are working the levers. We both agree it needed to cool down, and with Japan as a reason, we're getting it.
