From www.optionmonster.com ..............................GLTA Russell 2000 breaks above resistanceOctober 11, 2010 Mon 12:03 AM CT Levels didn't change much on Friday. The one exception was the Russell 2000, which did manage to break above resistance, though just by a handful of points. It does get a new resistance level for today, with support changing as well to reflect the move higher in the 10-day moving average. Of the three indexes we follow, the Russell has become the most bullish in terms of trends. That reverses the severe underperformance the RUT experienced until the end of August. The challenge for the bulls today will be light semi-holiday volume. Although the stock exchanges are open on Columbus Day, the bond market will be closed, and that leads to lighter sessions generally speaking. There won't be any significant earnings news or economic releases until tomorrow morning. Nasdaq 100 (NDX) First support is at 2007.23, the 10-day moving average. First resistance is at 2040.58. For the Nasdaq 100 Index Tracking Stock (QQQQ) first support is at $49.27. First resistance is at $50.21. S&P 500 (SPX) First support is at 1156.39. First resistance is at 1170.48. For the Standard & Poor's Depository Receipts (SPY) first support is at $115.89. First resistance is at $117.36. Russell 2000 (RUT) First support is at 679.9, the 10-day moving average. First resistance is at 700.97. For the iShares Trust Russell 2000 Index Fund (IWM) first support is at $67.94. First resistance is at $70. By: Bryan McCormick

Morning everyone. Carl F:
December S&P E-mini Futures: Today's range estimate is again 1157-67. The break below yesterday's low looks like a shakeout preceding a strong rally. Next upside target is 1175. The ES will move above 1216 over the coming months.
Caldaro short-term OEW summary:
SHORT TERM Support for the SPX remains at 1146 and then 1136, with resistance at 1168 and then 1176. Short term momentum ended the week at barely overbought. After Minor wave 2 completed at SPX 1123 the market rallied, and then became a bit choppy. The first rally off that low we labeled Minute wave one at SPX 1149. Then the SPX dipped to 1132, rallied to 1157, and returned to 1132 to complete a Minute wave two irregular flat. Minute wave three began at that time and has already made new uptrend highs three of the past four trading days. Our short term OEW charts suggest this rally, including thursday’s 13 point pullback (1164-1151) are all part of the same wave: Minute wave three. Since this uptrend began, pullbacks of 10 to 15 SPX points have been quite normal. They do create waves, but of such a small degree that we only monitor them in relation their the larger wave, which we label on the hourly chart. All our charts, including wave counts, can be found using the link and the end of this post. Best to your trading!

Cobra: cobrasmarketview.blogspot.com/The bottom line, the short-term trend is up and I hold tiny little long position over the weekend, not sure if it’s safe though. I’m a little bearish biased toward the next Monday for 2 reasons: When ISEE Indices & ETFs Only Index closed above 100, 25 out of 35 times (71%) SPX would close below today’s close within 2 trading days. 1.0.0 S&P 500 SPDRs (SPY 60 min), the negative divergence is simply too large which looks bearish too me, so we may see the price channel support being tested the next week. SHORT-TERM: NO 2 CONSECUTIVE UP DAYS FOR 3 WEEKS, UPTREND IS WEAKENING In 10/07 Market Recap, I mentioned that all the recent huge up days (up more than 1.5%) simply had no follow-through thereafter. From another angle, the chart below compares what happened when uptrend was young vs old, apparently the current uptrend is weakening, a top of some kind could be approaching. Of course, to timing a top is very difficult, so again I don’t mean you should short, just I feel it’s not the right time to get too bullish. lh5.ggpht.com/_APmrYvpA45s/TLDwWhAiInI/AAAAAAAAI0U/Ye4BhURXIZE/s1600-h/UptrendWeakening%5B2%5D.png1.0.0 S&P 500 SPDRs (SPY 60 min), the negative divergence is simply too large which looks bearish too me, so we may see the price channel support being tested the next week. lh5.ggpht.com/_APmrYvpA45s/TLDwXgbW0gI/AAAAAAAAI0c/L3Jrno87o54/s1600-h/SPY60min%5B2%5D.pngINTERMEDIATE-TERM: BEARISH BIASED Maintain the intermediate-term bearish view. Below are summaries of all the arguments I’ve been blah blah recently: 1. As mentioned in 10/01 Market Recap, commercial (smart money) holds record high short positions against Nasdaq 100. 2. As mentioned in 10/01 Market Recap, AAII bull ratio (4-week average) is way too bullish. 3. As mentioned in 10/01 Market Recap, institution selling keeps increasing. 4. As mentioned in 10/05 Market Recap, statistically, a strong off-season could mean a weaker earning season. All the most recent charts supporting the above arguments are listed below for your reference. Among them the statistics chart about off season vs earning season is from Bespoke and Sentimentrader (I combined them together) while the Institutional Selling Actions char is from stocktiming.
