Not a particularly exciting session, and not as doomish as it could/might get. It seems like the downside is about done if you're looking at the call side. Might mean some up next week. Things feel fairly compressed. Market is stuck in perpetual opex. No changes today, am enjoying watching JAZZ most of the time as my master plan continues to work. There's a heck of a range available on that one. ;D No trades today. Hope everyone made some money today and will do so on Monday. Members, please post your results along with your RDA of smileys!

Sold my IMGG at the open for $.22 / 30% - no clue why it was up. Expected to lose money on that impulsive buy at the close yesterday.
Bought ARNA September $6 puts @ $1.70 at the open and shorted some shares at $6.69 as well.
Still waiting on my next few FAS entries patiently ($20.68 avg on 2 entries so far).
I am bullish for next week. Have a good weekend everyone!

Sold my HPQ pre-market. nice trade. Bought and sold NFLX puts for a nice loss too early, but it will go down.

three trades... beans, wheat, 5 year note... small gains as a sluggish day for grains. the note was an afterthought and I scalped a few ticks. am holding soybeans until monday as I am short and a tiny green and am thinking they will drop more. (oh god, please don't let them go lock limit up like wheat did last week.) blue

Pretty tame day as Cos mentioned compared to what could have been..................I stayed small and flipped 25-50 contract lots SPY 109 PUTS 4X +11.2,+10,+8,+5.6 ....................I will be off next week so I sold SDS for .068% ...................also sold SH in both LT accounts both for +4.4%.....................still macro bearish but don't want to have to worry about what the markets are doing............. always expect the unexpected ....................... Hope you all have a great week and I will be back on the 23rd........(well since I do not leave until tomorrow I may pop up ;D ;D)..........Exalt for Cos....................Live to trade another day.......................GLTA

My intention is to flip FAS for some change everyday. Got stuck with some at $22.77 on 8/6. Flipped 8/13 $23 covered calls for 0.49 on 8/11. Flipped 8/13 $21 covered calls for 0.30 on 8/12. Flipped 8/13 $20 covered calls for 0.43 today.
I am still long the shares but short 8/21 $20 calls. Let's see what happens next week.
Have a nice weekend yall!

I took the session off again. After some quick scans and checks it looks to me like a boring session that did not confirm the bottom reversal put in Thursday. I still think the interim bottom was put in and look for confirmation in price and especially in the Euro which has yet to start back up again... The damn market is not doing exactly as I would imagine it should -nothing new though, it never does... It comes close sometimes... Maybe Monday we see the confirmation? Anyway, it looks like it was a zombiesque consolidating market down portfolio down session to me... Hope all did well!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I awoke this morning to find that China was still on the map and HSI only trading slightly down. Breathed a sigh of relief, and largely took the day off.

decided to record loss on AMAT -- needed money to move to the other account (I do this every 15th of the month)
sold 29K AMAT at 11.2x for ~30K loss ~10% sold 30K CENX for 45 cents profit..~13.5K ~4.6%
still hold 50K ATEC -- unrealized loss of 31K
Plan is to actively day trade to recover the loss

Taj... if you are going to actively day trade... why not futures? or are you more comfortable with equities?
just curious...

Not as doomy as I thought. Picked up a couple hundred of the weekly $15 calls for $0.20 which I sold for $0.35 five minutes before EOD. +3K for the day. Started a position in the FAZ $15 calls for next week. I still think we have a huge down day on the horizon.
Good luck everyone,

Goal is to have a realized profit of ~65K (~6%)in next 2 weeks.. I will stick with something I believe I know how to trade.. and will call upon you to learn more about futures.. Thanks.

I guess we have all weekend to digest charts and such, but I was just thinking I should have bought SPY puts today instead of NFLX.
That hockey stick Mr. Dough was talking about looks to break down in a meaningful way.

Blue, I day traded SDP long calls last 2 weeks but unfortunately sold them just before the correction.. I need liquidity and volatility to trade decent size blocks Hi Taj, Don't mean to be a budinski but I have found that index options are very liquid and easy to move large blocks with excellent liquiduty........plus that 15min of additional trading at days end each day can provide some amazing opportunities especially during earnings season......as you may have noticed from my "wrap" posts I now almost exclusively trade SPY PUTS for my day-trades and other then that a swing trade or two in the trading account........I used to watch 10-15 stocks that I felt I had a "bead" on and often times missed one while babysitting another position hence why I have paired down to a vehicle that gives me the movement necessary and liquidity for large blocks to trade on a daily basis.........just sharing an idea as you have demonstrated that you are a very good and capable trader...GLTY

I am going to seriously review your warp posts for the last week and will follow you coming week. Dual taught me how to trade options, perhaps, I can learn about futures trading from you. I might throw novice questions at you, please don't get annoyed.. Thanks again and an Exalt for you.
