Nice up day and seems like we got most of our 1200+ supports back. I don't buy it and neither does MeatPop. He is still holding on to at least 1150's. I made a face at him today when he said it was still going to happen, and he stomped back off into his study. I know better than to bother him when he's in this kind of mood. I added some LVS today at 48.90 and sold $50 Dec 18 calls for 2.00. Going to be interesting on this one. I will add to LVS if it stays down for a while, which I actually suspect it will. A lot of these stocks are hitting new highs and then selling off very rapidly, and then staying low for quite a while. No other trades but I'm watching my CSCO whither on the vine. I knew it. Hope everyone made some money today and will do so tomorrow. Members, please post your results along with your RDA of smileys!

Sold URRE for another very small profit. Don't like it anymore. Holding HAL +11% this is my second run with HAL Bought ACI again partial position Bought PHM 100 shares. U betta be right Slooper! Sold SVA +20.3% Holding TGB almost even as of today. But that could change in a second. Holding ONP getting killed on it. I hope the shorts are done here soon. Really starting to believe in Brosin's theory to stay away from the small cap micro cap stuff. Oh and yeah 100 sh. IRE. whatevah......

Well I guess it could have been worse - I ended down slightly less than 1% of my portfolio today. All the bad news was LVS and I am very mad at company management for releasing information in the middle of the trading day when they clearly had the information last night - I mean why halt SCL but not halt LVS? I was also unlucky on timing as I held out for an extra tick (or a few seconds) on unwinding two options trades and those didn't get executed costing be close to $20k. Sigh. Still up for the month.

You know what they say about Blind Squirrels... Bull - FAS broke significantly above top of descending channel started 15 days ago - I see visions of $24+ tomorrow!!! Don't ask me about tomorrow as I have no idea. Following my FAS/FAZ trading strategy, I ended up selling 3,000 FAS and bought back 1,500 FAZ resulting in a net gain for the day of $1,900 and am currently holding 1,500 FAS (very green) and 5,000 FAZ (red but not the least bit concerned). Who knows what tomorrow will bring but I don't care again: - If up, I can slowly sell-off bits of my FAS as I am now over my $500/day trading profit target and be patient as to when I buy more FAZ to average down
- If down, I may be able to buyback some of the FAS I sold today as well as sell some of the FAZ I bought today
Long-term, I am definitely bullish - Short-term, I am hoping we continue to see this whipsaw market - I don't care if FAS gets to $30 but I certainly hope FAS gets back down to $17 to $18 at which point, I'll go all in. Hope everyone has a great evening and I look forward to trading with you another day - Dave

Sold my PCX swing from 11/22 for about 8.5%, sold CLD from yesterday for about 2.5%. Coulda had about a % or 2 more one each, but CLD can be a little tricky...low volume, and it had a big swing yesterday on a major up day.

Dave, I have to admit that CLD had left my radar for awhile now... I just took a look and immediately started cursing at myself LOL... it was under $15 for such a long time!! Crap

interesting here this doesn't make much sense to me since PCX loses money every quarter and CLD is making money every quarter... yet PCX goes up much faster. Even if we assume PCX gets profitable at some point in the next few Qs (still a stretch), CLD is profitable and growing profits. I may have to take a look at that a little closer because even though PCX has made me a ton of money, I'd almost rather own CLD ?

Two different coal markets are involved. CLD is open pit Powder River Basin (PRB) coal...kind of a soft med BTU coal for power generation only. PCX is a mix of hard anthracite and met coal, with the met coal being the higher value coal. Essentially two different market segments.

Real LifeFFR was level at .20% - it's inaction when the market was looking bad was a sign; further inaction with the market doing well would be another sign. I'd expect (and like) to see it show some bullishness. My FAS is getting very nicely green again Monopoly World Big Cap - decent day, +1.8%; it would have been a very good one had BKE not been up 6% (I'm short). Couple moves: Shorted: BKE $38.60, now 8.5x short position avg 36.51 / unrealized -4.9% LVS $51.18 (covered $48.15, didn't expect that to work that fast), +4.1% WYNN $103.10 / unrealized -.4% LVS again $49.45 / unrealized +.6% My funds from the options acct are now "settled" today, so my allocations is 52% long, 33% short, 15% cash Scalp trades - acct +3.8% on the day, a few moves -sold my FAS @ $23.98 for 3.3%; this had been down almost -10% a few sessions ago. So this was great -sold my CHK @ $21.70 for 1% -shorted LVS @ $48 & $48.75, holding unrealized -1.7% Options Acct - wish I would've still been holding some weekly calls going into today! -bought some SPY $122 puts near EOD, avg $.38 Date Opened Contracts Buy Price Sell Price Total Cost 12/2/2010 SPY Weekly $122 puts 250 $0.36 $9000 12/2/2010 SPY Weekly $122 puts 250 $0.36 $9000 12/2/2010 SPY Weekly $122 puts 250 $0.37 $9250 12/2/2010 SPY Weekly $122 puts 250 $0.41 $10250 12/2/2010 SPY Weekly $122 puts 250 $0.39 $9750 All in all, accounts +1.7% on the day
