So I voted baby bear last night and felt any buying would be undone. It seems sort of true but haven't looked at the breadth. Meatpop and I still think we can go lower. Take a look at the oil chart and I think we're about halfway down with that chart pattern. I think the market will watch oil for this time of year. No trades today but feeling like there could be some buys starting next Monday. Hope everyone made some money today and will do so tomorrow. Members please post your results along with your RDA of smileys.

Junk is back in. The stuff I bought tiny positions in are doing well. The big stocks are hanging on. TGB is gonna be a bore! (Down) JOEZ is flying. +6.36% URRE I am not green but I added today at 2.37 It was as high as +17% I am still down 3.43% HAL is fine They tried to kill ADBE BUT it is hanging on. ACI came back some and my add ons yesterday so far are working. Same with XRX coming back.
I would suggest starting to keep an eye on Solar stocks. They have been annihilated lately. The solar etf TAN is down 66%. Solars can run like the devil when they are ready. I think they will fall more tho so just watch em...

No trades today - Spent time with best friend who may have a blood clot floating around his right lung - So scary - Spent time with my granddaughter who turned 4 today and she's sick - Kind of a sickly day here in KC.
Anyway, I am holding 2,500 FAS (red) and 3,000 FAZ (green) and if you look at the RIFIN daily fib retracement lines based on 4/15/10 high and 7/1/10 low, we just pierced below the 38.2 line (785) and could be headed to 757 which would put FAS (FAZ) at $20 ($13.47).
Hope everyone has a great evening and see ya tomorrow - Dave

no trades, set up a new account with optionsexpress so I can trade futures. I get free trades for 3 months provided I transfer at least a grand from another broker and put in another grand from the bank.
I was checking out the platform, was okay. It'll take a little getting used to.

Well I've had worse days - in fact yesterday was one of them. Started with a margin call from TDAmeritrade in my most active trading account. The messages didn't really make a lot of sense but as LVS plummeted I starting dumping my position - near the lows of the day. That made the marging call (and a chunk of my money) go away. Ended the day down $50k. The biggest dent has been to my active (after-tax) trading account which has lost 30% over 2 days. The trouble with that is this is the account out of which I write checks for living expenses and also trade options etc. On the bright side, this account has traded much lower in recent memory and is certainly not fatally wounded. I also have over $50k floating out there in loans to arts organizations and which I have a reasonable expectation of getting repaid. Paradoxically, this little event increases my motivation to pay off my mortgage via liquidating one of my pretax accounts and paying the tax on it now. That would provide the cash to pay off my mortgage and leave a little more cash to go into the after-tax account. Just need to figure out if I'm better off paying tax this year or next year on a distribution.

Holding FAZ from Nov 11th @ 11.42
I think we have a lot more room on the downside but expect the markets to be 'bouncy'
My original goal was 12.50 but I think I'm going to set a stop around 11.50 and take my chances at getting > 12.50
I'm okay holding till Thanksgiving.
I do plan to buy FAS when this is over. Hope that's soon.
Lower highs and lower lows. My S&P prediction.
May your trades bring you Irish fields of Green. Gark

Deman, My 2 pennies - you know what the taxes are for the 2010 tax year - for the 2011 tax year, crap shoot - but my guess is higher - even if a higher tax is enacted mid 2011, can be made retroactive. Take it FWIW, I'm not an accountant, just a dumbass engineer. No trades on I my part today....I think we have some more surprises in store...but not enough conviction to trade upon them.

I found a penny on the ground outside the gas station - It was the 743rd penny I've picked up YTD. ;D I plan to utilize proceeds from finds such as these, as well as Monday's realized gain of $12.60 - to purchase 1 large share of DPZ, split-adjusted into 8 slices, and take physical delivery.

Real LifeFFR was level at .21% - the more days we hold up in this bullish breakout level, the more certain I am that the bullish explosion is on the way. For reference, .22% has only been touched one time since mid 2009 (4/16/10). .23% has not been touched since Feb of 2009. My FAS was a little red Monopoly World / real time entries tracked in the blog Big Cap down slightly, -.5% on the day. Added to longs: SOL $9.13, $9, $9.06 (new position) V $76.07 BAC $11.78, 11.69 (new position) MS $25.44, $25.29 Added to short BKE $35.15 For some reason, I have a margin call. Not sure if I overbought today or whether I made an error when inputting things. Because the account was barely down.. Either way, my allocation is currently 95% long, 8% short... -3% cash / margin call Scalp Trades account, no moves, -3.3% on the day to pull off my recent high as FAS (unrealized -.7%) and RIMM (-2.5%) were both red Options Acct - no moves, slightly up +1.1% as my SPY $116 Nov options were even and my SPY $118 Dec options were slightly green. Didn't see a chance to add to any as volume was very light today All in all, accounts were -0.7% on the day
