(Filling in for Cos) This is the 'Brosin Needs A Nap Edition' I just got home a little while ago and am getting settled in - consider the 4 night run a success ;D www.umphreys.com/home/setlists.php?linkId=108#Although my phone died yesterday and I didn't get to see what the FFR was (Thanks to Sabin for posting it Friday and Monday) I see that the market started out quite strongly and that the fins were what seemed to drag it down. Notably, the VIX was fairly green all day which is interesting. The all important FOMC meeting is tomorrow - maybe I won't have time for my nap after all Hope everyone made some money today and will do so tomorrow. Members, please post your results along with your RDA of smileys!

Well - I had a strange day. LVS was up over a dollar and the market was basically flat - also I traded up a storm in LVS (successfully or so I thought) but I "only" made $1k. Why? Well my wonderful Japanese mutual funds were down about 1%. Also, I haven't checked but I think the implied volatility on all those short LVS options went up. No big deal - I did some position restructuring and rolling and am ready for tomorrow's delights after I go and vote the bums out!

Welcome back Brosin and you're welcome ...nice of you to return the favor here by filling in for Cos. Very glad I was not in the market as I likely woulda been eaten alive I just found out today I am heading to AF in about a month and determined I was not level headed enough to be playing the market, as tempting as TNA looked, which def worked out well for me. ...poor, poor MIVS...so glad I walked away long ago. My buddy was so excited initially when it halted expecting good news...we all know how that went I really don't know what to think direction wise after today as it certainly felt like the bulls got their asses kicked to me. While one part of me says the smart move is to sit the next couple days out and await direction, the other part of me is going "who the hell are you kiddin', you know you want in on that action!"

I got sidelined with working....Joe the plumber today.....unplugged the disposer discharge, and in the course of testing after clearing, found that the disposer was suffering from an unoperable leak. New one of those on order, drip pan in place. This of course was from disposing of spoiled food in the fridge (4 yr old GE Profile), which is now operational, and suspect part is on order. Hell, over the last couple of days, I figure I made about $600 on avoided service calls.

No trades today - I feel like Maverick in Top Gun after Goose died... I get a missile lock then..... break off and refuse to engage. My employer reports tomorrow pre-market, so I'm giving myself a pre-emptive "I knew holding it through earnings wasn't a great idea..."

Used a mental stop on AVNR today...got stopped out of my position at $4.88 Decided it was time to step away for a few days. If it busts higher, I'm sure I'll kick myself, but I can't complaint with 100% gain. To be honest, it looks like it will be idle for a while. At first, it seemed like it would run harder - maybe slow and steady is better.
No trades otherwise. Held my losing BIOD position for the long haul, hoping for a spike with better results after the CRL.
Thinking of re-entering BIDU soon...it's looking good. Will be on the prowl tomorrow for another potential runner.

Looking through my stuff after being away for 2 days was interesting.. Real Life - FFR was up to .20% - this was a welcome sign after quite awhile of stagnation. Further movement up towards new highs of .23% would perhaps be a sign that the next move for the market will be up. My FAS is still not doing much. Monopoly World tracked in the blog[/b] - no moves today Big Cap was +.4% on the day Still 72% long, the notable moves over the past 2 days being in BIDU (in my favor on my short position) and CRUS (not in my favor on my long position). I'm going to sell into any strong up moves we see over the next 2 days. Scalp Trades Acct was +1.5% on the day today - Still holding CHK (now only 1.3% unrealized loss) and FAS -2.3% unrealized). Have held in there way longer than I am supposed to in here but they have unlost some money and the account will approach new highs if the market heads up more this week Options Account, no moves, all cash at the moment

It was a relatively good day..
one round trip of naked 115 Bidu puts for 1.25 realized profit.. 100 contract (bot too early, left a lot of money on the table)
tried to time QQQQ weeklies (long vertical) sold 53 call first then bot 52 calls on drop and then closed both for 45 cents realized profit..
Nice up day.. 95% cash..

KB, thanks...I'm gonna try and get you to nickname me "Sabs" from here on out if it's not too late I'm an army civilian in contracting (not a contractor) so I am going to try and prevent the fraud, waste, and abuse in the contracts over there as well as get the local ie afghan economy going. Try being the key word . I went there the first time to see what it was all about and it definitely opened my eyes to a lot of things. This time around its more about getting a slice of pie while trying to do a good thing in the process. Changed my life vastly the first time around (the 'ol investment portfolio got a lot more ammo ) and figure this time it's double er nuttin'

U got it "Sabs"!! Sounds like a good plan. I alwase have felt that the very best way to make money is by helping people in need. Makes you feel good about yourself and maybe God will be on your side too. Keep your head down and yer eyes and ears open.

Had a great day yesterday trading FAS/FAZ. Sold 1,000 FAS at $22.7 (AP $22.2848) and bought 'em back at AP of $22.125 plus another 500 at $21.8 Sold 2,000 FAZ at $12.65 (AP $12.35) Still holding positions in both until we get a sense as to where this market is heading
Have no idea about MVIS - I have a feeling this thing is gonna dribble down to $1 - Sell/Hold/Sell/Hold - Both - I dunno - Comments/thoughts welcome regardless of seriousness - Humor would be preferred
Gotta get more coffee
