Great board you have here folks! I'm a dabbler in the markets, not a full time player. I've done okay though scalping profits from 3x ETFs.
I'm here to learn, and appreciate the way you all share information and ideas.

In response to Maxi, it's not much of a strategy really. I look at the longer term and shorter term trends, so I have a sense of the general direction (up or down). I'll put a regression channel on the last 100 or so candles, to see how much it wobbles off the general trend (linear regressions). If it's at or near the bottom of the channel (and doesn't look to be breaking the general trend) I'll go long. I always use stops. Try to space them far enough down to protect against a "catastrophic" loss, but not get picked off prematurely. As the trade goes in my favor, I manually raise and tighten the stop to protect profits. Eventually I usually get stopped out with a profit. And I'm happy with that. I figure if it turns around a starts heading north again, I can always get back in. But having paid my tuition (like everyone else), I'm happy to take whatever cash I can out of a trade.
