I don't know when the dam breaks in Libya but when it does we'll have a huge bull. I think it's tomorrow and a hexabull.

God bless you old friend, I know you're gonna make it.
I smoked only about half a pack yesterday. Today, not so good. But you and Jack got me thinking about it seriously.

Rich, here's how I'm dealing with it. Instead of the perspective that I'm quitting forever, I just deal with the stupid craving when it happens. As I went into day 2, they were every 20 minutes. Now get this - supposedly the cravings last a maximum of 3 minutes... but because of some time distortion effects from withdrawal, they will SEEM longer. I may have to agree with that. Considering that Night 1 was home drinking with friends, I feel lucky to have survived it. But that has boosted my confidence. I take a melatonin at night to help me sleep, just in case, but that's it. I've hit and passed peak withdrawal, which is 3-4 days out. It'll be 4 weeks before I may experience a craving free day. But I'm not really worried about that now - I'm more interested in diverting the craving I'm having while writing this

I know I'm killing this thread but those cravings you speak of are like little panic attacks.
I don't like them.

Has anyone tried the patches? That worked for me. It tamed those pesky cravings. They were not so bad and not as long as they were. Just make sure you take it off at night. Horrible nightmares. I hate the insomnia that comes with quitting. Nyquil works. It is definately worth it. Stick with it. It is all temprary and will pass.

Nicotine gum - one day That's all I needed You can get the same effect by taking your cigarette butts and ashes, mixing it with some water and drinking it.

eww jack! I had a friend when I was 15. Her Mom found out she was smoking. Her Mom made her sit down and smoke a cig in front of her but, she had to smoke the cig her Mom gave her. She smoked it and was so damn sick afterwards. Puking and Puking. Her Mom told her it was horse shit and she better never smoke again. Needless to say, 35 years later, she is still a non smoker. Now, that is parenting the old fashion way..

good luck on the quitting smoking guys! I got down to 5 a day by stopping pairing smoking with every meal, and eating a little bit more.. chewing gum helps and just mentally saying "how about not smoking" when i think i need to smoke.. also dragging on a smoke unlit sometimes is like getting a fix

Course that was in the 20-30s before the pharmas had the Gubmint put the hex on weed because it was a competing cure all. That's no shit too.
