From www.optionmonster.com ............................GLTA Indexes are approaching important levelsThe indexes had been holding up relatively well through most of yesterday's session but quickly fell after the release of the Fed's meeting minutes at 2:15 p.m. ET. The report contained no new information, but that was apparently enough for traders to reverse direction and shed risk. While the indexes avoided finishing on the lows of the day, they are now close to some important technical levels. The key technical event for the Nasdaq 100 was breaking below its 200-day moving average. The S&P 500 narrowly escaped closing beneath its 50-day moving average, which is a major support level. The index did break through it in the course of the day but remained the relative outperformer in losing less than 1 percent. The Russell 2000 came to rest just at its 50-day moving average. How the indexes behave around those averages tomorrow will be an important factor in determining whether the bulls or the bears that have the upper hand. Nasdaq 100 (NDX)Support is at 2253.95. On a break below the 2250 area, next support would be at 2225.54 and then at 2206.29. Resistance is at 2290.73, its 200-day moving average, then at 2337.70, and thereafter at the Dec. 5 pivot high of 2343.10. S&P 500 (SPX)Support is at 1224.48, its 50-day moving average, then at 1211.36, and 1197.35 thereafter. Resistance is at 1246.41, its 10-day moving average, and then at 1262.46, its 200-day moving average. Above that level, resistance would be at 1280.91 and then at 1287.08. Russell 2000 (RUT)Support is at 716.83, its 50-day moving average, then at 705.25, and thereafter at 698.19. Resistance is at 725.25, then at 736.24, its 10-day moving average, and thereafter at 756.76.

From www.optionmonster.com .......................GLTA Mortgage, crude, trade numbers on tapThe economic calendar is relatively light today, including the regular mortgage data, the oil inventories, and import and export prices. The weekly MBA Purchases data will be released at 7 a.m. ET. Economists do not make forecasts for this report, and I look only at the purchases data because it indicates new economic activity as opposed to refinancing. Last week purchases came in at 208, which was a significant improvement from previous weeks. A reading that is higher by 5 percent or more would be bullish, while one that is lower by the same margin would likely be seen as bearish. Import and Export Prices will be reported at 8:30 a.m. ET. The consensus forecast calls for import prices to rise by 0.9 percent and export prices to rise by 0.3 percent. This is a moderately inflationary balance, with imports rising at a faster rate than exports. Estimates for import prices range from a disinflationary -0.2 percent to an inflationary 2 percent. Export prices are seen rising by just 0.1 percent to a more bullish 0.8 percent. The EIA Petroleum Status Report will be released at 10:30 a.m. ET. Before the EIA data comes out, the American Petroleum Institute issues a competing report based on its own supply data. The forecast for both reports was for a draw of -1.6 million barrels. But the API release, which came out last night after the market closed, showed a surprise build of 0.462 million barrels instead. If the EIA data confirms this number or shows an even larger build, it could be bearish for crude. If instead the build is smaller than the API's 0.462 million barrels or is a negative number, indicating a draw, it could be bullish for oil. The EIA is a government body, and the API is a private industry group. The two reports do not always agree either in terms of amount or direction.

What I have noticed on the SPY weeklies is that whatever side the market is leaning the premium is ridiculous even on deep ITM options and they bait you on the other side with almost no Premium........................either way you end up getting killed ...................

Everything looks doomy. I got stopped out of my long trades yesterday while I was out, and I even considered FAZ. Even my ANGI is deflating! My son (Navy) is coming home tomorrow and other Christmas activities heating up so I have lots to do, not sure if I can be enticed back in for the rest of the MONTH now. This market takes too much babysitting. We'll see...

Babysitting is exactly right...what are the 50/200 on the sp500? It looks like 1225 and 1242...is that correct? TIA. Looks like the 200 crossed the 50 on the 5 min. about 1pm yesterday.
