From www.optionmonster.com ..........................GLTA Two news reports could help indexesThe shortened Friday session ended on a down note after a failed attempt at a rally. Rather than stock news, it was yet another credit downgrade in Europe, this time for Belgium, that brought the indexes to the lows of the session. And that is where they closed out the week. I had pointed out Friday that the S&P 500 was at a deeply oversold level, one from which rallies can typically begin, but the technicals were overshadowed by the headlines. However, there are two news items that could make today a better session for the bulls. (See related story) The first is that there was broad improvement in retail sales on Black Friday, with initial estimates suggesting the best sales since 2007. That is sure to put some confidence into traders' perspective on the U.S. consumer and their willingness to spend. Another item originally reported on Friday but lost in the noise of the day was picked up again by several news agencies last night. The report, which I first saw on Reuters, is that Germany and France would attempt to expedite a mini-fiscal integration pact by side-stepping some of the country-by-country process that could take years to sort out. The essence of this pact would be to persuade the European Central Bank to accelerate its bond purchases by ensuring stability in the Eurozone. Shortly after the article appeared, U.S. futures bolted higher, in some cases by nearly 2 percent. Of course, there is no guarantee that this overnight enthusiasm will hold. But if it does, levels could change quickly. On Friday the Nasdaq 100 and the Russell 2000 broke some key support areas and will get new levels today. The S&P 500 just grazed initial support, and I have left that value in place given the higher futures. Nasdaq 100 (NDX)Support is at 2131.31, then at 2110.14, and 2091.91 thereafter. Resistance is at 2151.48 and then at 2160.20. Next resistance levels above would be at 2187.46, and thereafter at 2237.13. S&P 500 (SPX)All of the following support levels are new. Initial support would be at 1159.93 (see note above). Thereafter it would be at 1141.72 and then at 1131.21. Initial resistance is at 1165.55, then at 1176.41, and 1183.16 thereafter. Russell 2000 (RUT)Support is at 656.21 and then at 642.28. Resistance is at 679.73 and then at 697.03. Above these levels, next major resistance would be at 712.73, its 10-day moving average.

From www.optiomonster.com .........................GLTA Home sales are lone entry on calendarThere is only one economic report today in a back-end-loaded week dominated by employment data. At 10 a.m. ET, New Home Sales data comes out. The consensus forecast calls for sales of 310,000, which would be a slight decline from the previous month. Estimates range from 300,000 at the low, which would be bearish, to 320,000 at the high, which would be bullish.

This would be a perfect time to go short IMO, would have a stop at 1200-1205ish... But I'm already short at about 1185 bleh.
