I agree in this case D-Man no it didn't matter, but it's knowledge 'after the fact' - I sure as heck didn't expect that final hammer at the close.
Sometimes it does matter especially if the day seems a reversal of some sort.
But we need to stick with the published rules.

Um so you're saying I'm too late to enter? Even though late entry is not exactly an advantage? Sigh. OK. Not quite clear how my entry would be allowing me ANOTHER equity - just allowing me the equity I would have picked had I not been disconnected. The points you are making were referring to Brosin not you DeMan. (Allowing another equity or not)

What's the point of having rules if they get changed because of this or that?!?!? How hard is it to read and then follow them? This is the 7th time we've been around this block.

Sigh - I have no trouble reading and understanding rules. I explained quite clearly that I tried to enter before the deadline but could not log into Fastopia. The question you should be asking yourselves is why you think it is an advantage to enter the contest late - if you get tagged with the price at your time of late entry, it simply means that you have less time for your price to move up than the folks who entered early. That doesn't sound like any kind of advantage. For the same reason options that have longer times to expiration cost more than options with less time.

We have all had situations that have prevented us from entering. I did not ever know about the last contest number 6. I think last time my hardrive crashed.. Other times there were other reasons. Other people have been at work or on the road as well. Let it go and enter next time.

Ok I looked through past Contest Threads and here's where I'm at... Bros had an entry in before 4pm but couldn't log back in before 4 to make a correction. So long as he and Steel can work out what their arrangement is and present it clearly in a post, and Ask & Taj agree, the entry is accepted. For the entries that came after 4pm, we can amend the rules for future contests but I would prefer not to change the rules after the entry period. Not a big deal either way, but I would take EDC (it is not taken by anyone I don't believe) if I'm allowed to. Don't want to cause problems though. looks like the 3:24 ET entry was slightly lower than the EOD anyways on EDC, so if I can take $22.71, that's good with me. brosin@EDC@$22.71

Previously, if I recall correctly, in such situation, contestant was allowed to keep HOD price not the lower price between time of post and end of day. Good Luck.

I simply can't remember but I want to be fair.
If Ask agrees as well as there are no objections from any contestant, Bros gets EDC *a proxy of course for SOXL so same sector, at the absolute worst price of the day, the HOD, (not including pre or ah of couse), so for EDC I show 23.20.

How is EDC the same sector or a proxy for SOXL? EDC is emerging markets and SOXL is semi conductors.

I got it confused I thought it was the tech ETF.
Rich and I went through the prior contests and though we thought #4 had a similar situation, it is not the same. Therefore the entries stand as is no changes and Bros's entry is a duplicate. He wasn't able to reselect before the contest closed, so it's DQ.

This is like watching a really good race!
How many lead changes were there today? Would be great if it were possible to see the order changes in some sort of elapsed, visual representation with a market chart playing behind it when it's all done. Oh PoorHomey!!!
Should be really entertaining about the middle of next week. I love it!

Yesterday while looking at the results board I finally figured out the closeyest is NOT closey-est. As in closest to the close? Whatever? I have a reading disorder that I developed because ALL I did as a child was read. I rarely spoke. I also believed at one time that Arkansas and Ark-kansas were two different states.

dont count opk out we still have a week to go here I don't think you can count any picks out yet...that's what makes this one so great. Already some at the top have gone to the bottom, and vice versa. I think that may happen yet again, maybe a couple times. I wish I had at least kept copies of the EOD results so far...anyway easy way to get that now, or anyone have those?

Huh, EOD results and daily standings are captured within the spreadsheet. Have you looked at "Scores", "Standing by Date", "Closing Price by date" tabs ? Let me know if you are looking for something different.

I don't see exabi on the standings by date tab. But that tab makes no sense to me anyway. The only thing that makes any sense is this one. Current Standings. What are all the others for anyway? docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuavpI6pXchmdEVqVm5HMzF0ZzVqMmwyT1I4S2xZWGc&hl=en_US#gid=7

Standings by date would be perfect, but doesn't appear to be working correctly. Also, is there a link explaining the Score sheet?

What kind of info other than the main page are you looking for? I was really just looking to see how the standings change over time, which the standings by date would do. I was expecting this contest might have a lot of leader changes...bottom of the standings become the top, then reverse again...or something like that. Perhaps it won't since you are dominating so well, but I can still be entertained by the 2nd and 3rd places. Too much time on my hands, I know. ;D

You are right tho . With this market standings will change. Especially with SVM. It could get re attacked by it's shorts or any number of things. I think that one of the 3x ers will end up being in first place. And with this market whether that is a long or short 3x is anyone's guess!

Yeah, it's just a spectator sport for me now.
My reason for ZSL was to get big gains on big up days, and hopefully more gains if the market then tanked, thinking commodities might as well. This way the 3x's ETF's would get killed with decay in the volatility, but ZSL wouldn't.
ZSL was up as much as 8+% today, but then it didn't even end up as much as the markets did. That kind of killed my whole theory (and my Contest dreams and hopes)
Should still be fun to watch the day by day next week if it will be as volatile as I think it might.

I'm thinking it will be an individual company that wins in the end, and not a leveraged etf because of the decay.
