From www.optionmonster.com ..........................GLTA Levels shift down after stocks fallStocks opened higher on Thursday, but reversed lower after European markets rolled over. At one point, the German DAX was down almost 3 percent before rebounding. The declines weren't expected ahead of today's Federal Reserve meeting at Jackson Hole. In each case, the indexes saw support levels broken which means that what was support now becomes resistance. Each index gets fresh support levels. Nasdaq 100 (NDX)First support is at 2084.83. First resistance is at 2131.06, its 10-day moving average. For the PowerShares QQQ (QQQ) first support is at $51.24. First resistance is at $52.34, its 10-day moving average. S&P 500 (SPX)First support is at 1145.49. First resistance is at 1165.72, its 10-day moving average. For the SPDR S&P 500 (SPY) first support is at $115.23. First resistance is at $116.86, its 10-day moving average. Russell 2000 (RUT)First support is at 666.85. First resistance is at 684.05, its 10-day moving average. For the iShares Trust Russell 2000 Index Fund (IWM) first support is at $67.19. First resistance is at $68.41, its 10-day moving average.

From www.optionmonster.com ........................GLTA Bernanke dominates the agendaThe main event for the day will be the Federal Reserve conference at Jackson Hole, with Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke scheduled to speak at 10 a.m. ET. There are some other reports, however, that could also move markets. At 8:30 a.m. ET, the Commerce Department will publish a revision to second-quarter GDP data. Economists expect a downward revision to 1.1 percent from the previous 1.3 percent reading. The range is from a bearish gain of just 0.7 percent to a 1.6 percent gain at the bullish end of the spectrum. The final revision to the Reuters/University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index for August is due at 9:55am ET. Most economists expect the reading to rise slightly from the mid-month estimate, to 56 from 54.9. The forecast range is from a bearish reading of 51.5, to a more bullish index value of 57.
