Abx - hit the 200dma. The problem is that Gld has made a new lower low, it's third lower L in fact. 114 is setting up as a key S level.
tick making a hod here at +1100.
I'm very interested in how vix trades today. This pattern of jumping and then settling close to the day low, two days straight, is a possible tell. Seems to be doing it again today.

SPG has brick-wall resistance between $83.00-83.50 no way its getting through - its both the 20SMA and 90EMA: stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=SPG&p=D&b=5&g=0&id=p32356416011Nice DRV double bottom at $35.3 - that junk was over $45 on 7/6. And have I ever mentioned that SPG is a POS company? DRV is very tempting here...

what is this charting? 10 year US tres price or yield? ie, does it go up as Tres rate goes up? historic values seem out of whack. over past 5 years: high was Jun-2007 at ~53. low was Dec-2008 at ~21 recent values: Apr-2010 hit ~40 currently ~29. again - the question is just what is the index including in its base and how does it calculate. the above values don't seem to reflect the movement of 10 year Tres bonds or yields. Help, please!! TIA

Breadth is pos today, vol and issues, on Ny. Nq vol pos, issues slightly neg.
Spy - strong move up and then a 38% fib retrace that has so far held. That could be a bull flag.

from optionmonster.com Large trade bets volatility will pull backJuly 19, 2010 Mon 10:26 AM CT Volatility remains high in the market, but at least one trader is betting that it will fall back to more "normal" levels. The iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures (VXX) exchange-traded note is down fractionally this morning even as the S&P falls and the VIX is up 3.6 percent to 27.21. The VXX trades at $26.92, having again found support around $25 last week. Shares have been mostly above that level since the May 6 "flash crash." The VXX options are a very new product, and the average volume in the last 20 days is roughly 8,000 contracts. Today more than 10,000 of those puts have already changed hands, including 5,000 August 25 puts, all of which were bought for $1.35 and above the open interest of 1,574 contracts. Several minutes later the September 25 puts were sold for $2.35. Almost 3,000 of those puts have traded, twice the open interest at that strike. Uploaded with ImageShack.usThis trading is looking for the VXX to be lower over the next month. The VXX is based off of the VIX futures and is therefore the future projection of implied volatility. Implied volatility increases as the SPX sells off, so a lower VXX would correspond to a flat or climbing SPX. Because of these interrelations, it is entirely possible that these trades are hedged or relative value trades against some other position in the VIX or SPX. tnx is the 10 y UST yield. OH! silly silly me!!! its simply rate/yield times 100 --- duh!!! just don't recall it being back up to 4.0% in April, before its recent fall to 2.9%. also the 5 year high at 5.3%, is surprising (to me) - that actually looks to be the 8 year high water mark. just to put it in perspective, my last (and only) T-bond purchase was 30 year notes at 13% (in the early 1980's). risk free 4.0% --> 2.9% in 3 months. yeah that might explain some of the stock markets drop!!
