financials are lagging - if FAS can catch up with the other 3x's I would feel like this breakout has more staying power So true, fly. I have been watching closely this morning, ready to dump my FAS, but the last 30 mins show fins starting to catch up. If they climb on board, we could have a really snazzy short-covering rally today. and here they come!

Fins steadily gaining steam- they may make or break this rally at this point. Shorts should cover-too risky. Better buy-in point will be here later this week. GL to both sides.

Anyone have TICK data they could share? Seems to be going up in a steady, controlled fashion so far. Fins almost at par after lagging all morning- will they run and carry us the rest of the way today, or crap out here? (pssst- answer is: continue running if and only if I sell my FAS right here!)

Days like this don't seem to produce a significant intraday pullback unless we crack 1400+. I continue to look on in grateful disbelief... Only the continued bearishness of some of the respected traders on this board has kept me long (yes, I'm a contrarian for now). I just hope none of them are getting hurt too bad today.

Thanks, Cos & Dog for your TICK input as well- I do need to devise a way to have access to it here at work. Your idea Dog, may work. (Is that where UK has been hiding out lately?)
Taking a pause here, but still no significant retraction.
I am very distrustful of the action today for some reason.

In some ways, the skepticism is what leads me to stay, in general, very bullish.

In some ways, the skepticism is what leads me to stay, in general, very bullish. Couldn't have said it better, Brosin. I got left at the train station last March, 'cause I just couldn't believe it could happen. I relied too much on the fundamentals that said "No Way", while completely ignoring the signals The Market was shouting at me. A couple more days to make believers out of the shorts, THEN we get the drop back to 1090-1100. Then, when everyone cries "False Breakout", "Going To 950", etc., I will go long again for the next Carl Futia leg up. Ha!* (*Subject to change on a moment's notice)

Speaking of trains leaving the station Crumb, so far so good. And the typical laughter ensued on Wednesday night last week. There is no way that the skeptics got into the market on the very small dip today. And at the end of the day, they saw the market running even further away from them. Train has already left the station I think - it will be the ones that jump on to the back of the moving train that will be the smart ones (contrary to what probably 99% are thinking). So... Big huge Grey Poupon Sloop Bull! Train left the station.....bwahahaha! You make me laugh Brosin. Sometimes I just shake my head. Remember how many are missing this move and WANTING that dip to 1090/1100. I'd say upwards of 80% of the market is underallocated in stocks right now. Should it continue taking off, there is just no way we dip much with everyone sitting there hoping it does.

Carl F update:
The trend remains upward and the ES appears to be advancing within the bounds of the green trend channel I have drawn. I think the market is in the process of breaking out above the 1127 highs (red dash line) established in late June and early August. If it does this will constitute and upside breakout from the head and shoulders formation I pointed out in this post.
However, the advancing issues oscillators I use are showing that the market is overbought. So I expect it to churn around on both sides of 1127 for a while until a moderate oversold condition arises. After than a move to 1174 and higher will be in the cards.
For the time being I think the ES has the potential to hit 1138-40, the top of the channel, either today or tomorrow. Then I think a 20-30 point break is likely before the next up leg begins.

MGM up over 7% today. Can it hold it?
Every time it's made a run lately, it's come right back down.
