Market Consensus Before Announcement The Conference Board's consumer confidence index edged forward in January to 55.9 from 53.6 in December. However, the assessment of the present situation remains near historic lows though it did improve noticeably, up nearly 5 points to 25.0. The assessment of the outlook has been far better than that of the present situation with the expectations index adding another 7 tenths to 76.5. Analysts are expecting a dip in the index for February based on early indications from such as the preliminary February consumer sentiment index and the ABC News Consumer Comfort Index.

AT the top of the MB screen you will see a section that says "you have x messages" just click on the link. This will bring you into your Private Messages area. You can reply to the message from that area. Similar to email.

Good Morning, Here is your Merrill Morning Minute: FAZ bias this morning, held overnight, keeping my eye out for switch opportunities Probably buy FAS into the weekend though… Hold on one minute, I’m still not done beating this dead horse yet….There is no Volume, no tute part, if there is any, it is very light….very worried as we’re making cups within a base in various sectors and without tute volume coming into play, the concern is we’ll fall thru Nasd volume lowest of the year, moves up/down continue on light vol, even gainers are trading not more than 20% above normal vol, seeing greater increase in open/close imbalances…there is not a great amount of liquidity in the market place; all the major indexes have been stuck on an “E” accum/distrib rating for the better part of 2010 Seeing profit taking even slightly above 5% on recent runs However, Insurance sector is receiving continued better than average interest at this time Remember we’re still in a correction. Stop your losses at 7%; take gains earlier than you normally would. Bottoms may not have been made. All the major indexes are still hovering within a touch of their 50 dma. CASH – good 2 c ya back in the mix GLTA

Big resistance on GS between 159.50 and 160.00 ...UUP could pull it through if the dollar continues to weaken...topping tails on JPM and MS... Nice move though
